Agreement reached as Poch within inches of snapping up Tottenham star

Tottenham full-back Serge Aurier has agreed personal terms over a transfer back to Paris Saint-Germain, according to a report.

The Frenchman has had links with a move away from Spurs for some time; one report claimed that the north London club are willing to accept a £10million loss on the 2017 signing. That same report back in March said that Aurier had opened discussions over a move back to the French capital.

Football Insider subsequently revealed last month that Tottenham accepted a bid from PSG.

According to a fresh claim from the same source, though, Aurier has now agreed personal terms with the European giants.

Football Insider now says that PSG will ‘meet the conditions of the sale’. However, the report does not state the figures involved in the upcoming transfer.

Nevertheless, he has reportedly agreed a ‘lucrative’ four-year contract with Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Indeed, he will reunite with the ex-Spurs boss, who brought him to the Premier League in 2017.

Aurier revealed his admiration for PSG back in December, ahead of the winter transfer window.

He said: “When I say PSG is the club close to my heart, I don’t want journalists to say, ‘He can’t say that!’ But of course I will answer,” he said.

“It’s the club I’ve loved the most out of all the clubs I’ve played for. Paris is where I turned into a man, as a professional, where I discovered myself more. That’s where I enjoyed myself the most.

“When I was a youngster at Lens, Paris was the club of my heart. One day, it would be no problem at all to go back, with pleasure. I will never turn down an offer from Paris, that is absolutely certain.

“If ever it comes up, why not? If it doesn’t, I’m very happy where I am and things are going well for me.”

Aurier was a star player for Pochettino before the Argentine’s sacking in November 2019. Since then, though, he dropped in and out of form under Jose Mourinho.

Aurier to sidestep Tottenham’s Paratici

The report adds that the talks with PSG were well advanced before newly-appointed sporting director Fabio Paratici moved to Spurs.

The transfer chief has joined in the hope of also bringing new manager Paulo Fonseca to the club.

However, Aurier will leave ‘regardless’ of Fonseca – or whoever steps into the dugout – and their views on his services.

The 66-time Ivory Coast international has played 110 games for Tottenham, chipping in with eight goals and17 assists.
