Ancelotti eager to continue love affair with affordable Everton star

Reports in Spain claim Carlo Ancelotti is keen for another reunion with Everton midfielder Allan at Real Madrid and is set to move for the Brazilian this summer.

The duo first worked together during the Italian’s 19-month spell in charge of Napoli. Ancelotti was sacked by the Serie A outfit on December 10 2019. But he was back in work less than two weeks later, with the Toffees recruiting the experienced tactician.

He signed Allan in September 2020 for around £21.7m, handing the Brazil international a three-year deal on Merseyside. The South American’s first season at Goodison Park was plagued by injuries but he still managed to impress.

He enjoyed 23 starts among 24 Premier League outings and played 26 times in all competitions. That was despite a hamstring injury suffered against Leicester City that kept him sidelined for around ten weeks.

During his downtime, the former Udinese man revealed the reasons behind his switch to the blue half of the city.

“First of all, Everton are a big team with a great history,” he told the Liverpool Echo. “Also, with the sporting project that’s being put together here, with plans for a new stadium, Ancelotti as the coach, it’s a great thing.”

The feeling is clearly mutual as Ancelotti has been tipped to recruit the schemer in the off-season. Spanish outlet Defensa Central are suggesting Los Blancos will soon make a move for the versatile midfielder.

He is capable of playing both an attacking and defensive role in the middle of the park. And Ancelotti wants the tough-tackling star in his ranks once again.

Real won’t be priced out of Allan capture

Everton’s valuation of Allen is unknown but it is thought he could leave for around €20m. They paid more for him last year and he does still have two years left on his current deal.

But the incoming Toffees manager would not want someone on his books that was keen to play elsewhere. Allan is one of the most consistent footballers in the European game and tends to fly under the radar.

A no-nonsense midfielder, he made 116 appearances for Udinese and 212 for Napoli. He does not score many goals but is the archetypal box-to-box player, able to defend and attack with equal prowess.

Everton got a glimpse of his talent but, if Ancelotti gets his way, that might be all the fans see.
