Arsenal, Leicester face tussle as stern third Prem club join striker hunt

Brighton have reportedly emerged as the third Premier League club eyeing Odsonne Edouard, joining Arsenal and Leicester in a battle to sign the Celtic striker.

According to The Sun, the Glasgow outfit have valued the 23-year-old at between £15million and £20million, with only a year left on his current contract. Edouard has enjoyed a successful goalscoring season in Scotland, recording 22 strikes in 40 appearances across all competitions.

This potency has attracted the Seagulls’ interest, with Graham Potter’s side scoring just 40 goals in 38 Premier League games.

With Neal Maupay ending the season as the club’s top scorer with eight goals, Edouard’s prowess would be a welcomed asset at the Amex this summer.

Amid other interest, a move to Leicester may prove a more difficult transition for the Frenchman.

Free-scoring Kelechi Iheanacho and club legend Jamie Vardy are both guaranteed a place in Brendan Rodgers’ team for next season.

Nevertheless, Rodgers brought Edouard to Celtic – hence his interest – and 34-year-old Vardy does not have a long-term future.

Alternatively, a move to the capital could prove beneficial for the former PSG youngster, should compatriot Alexandre Lacazette depart from the Emirates.

Rumours continue to circulate around the 29-year-old’s future in north London, with the club believed to be monitoring Edouard as his perfect replacement.

As as well as the battle to sign Edouard, the Seagulls will also have to ensure that a host of top talent remains on the South Coast.

It is believed that a number of top clubs are set to express their interest in some of Graham Potter’s most crucial assets in the upcoming transfer window.

Brighton will battle to keep big names

One player strongly tipped to leave Brighton for pastures new this summer is Yves Bissouma, with Liverpool strongly tipped to bid for the Malian midfielder.

It is understood that Reds’ boss Jurgen Klopp has singled out the 24-year-old as the perfect replacement for the departing Georginio Wijnaldum.

Meanwhile, new Roma boss Jose Mourinho reportedly has interest in signing defender Ben White.

Mourinho has reportedly instructed the Serie A outfit to rival his former employers Manchester United and bring the 23-year-old Englishman to the Italian capital.
