Arsenal old boy the bait as Arteta considers tempting Gunners swap

Arsenal could reunite with Aaron Ramsey this summer as part of Juventus interest in an out-of-favour Gunners star.

The 30-year-old moved on a free transfer to Turin in the summer of 2019 after 11 years at Arsenal. He is about to conclude the second year of a four-year deal with the Italian giants. But it appears as though his days with the Old Lady may now be numbered, with multiple reports suggesting Ramsey will leave.

The Wales international has enjoyed mixed fortunes with Juve. Never far away from an injury, he has started only 24 Serie A games across two seasons, scoring five goals.

The Caerphilly-born ace has enjoyed 65 outings in all competitions but may be back in the Premier League in 2021-2022. Liverpool, Everton, Crystal Palace and Tottenham have all been linked with the schemer.

Indeed, a parting of ways seems inevitable for Ramsey and Juve this summer. Indeed, a report last month claimed the Italian giants have slashed their asking price for the midfielder.

Now though it appears he could be heading back to Arsenal as part of a swap deal for Hector Bellerin. That’s according to Spanish outlet Sport, who claim Juve are ready to make their move for the unsettled Spaniard.

The right-back faded out of Mikel Arteta’s plans towards the end of the season. In fact Bellerin has made only three league appearances since Arsenal were beaten by Manchester City on February 21. It’s been reported Bellerin is seeking a fresh challenge this summer.

A move to Real Betis has been mooted but Sport believes a move to Turin looks more feasible.

And they claim that the cash-strapped Italians could look to kill two birds with one stone by offering Ramsey in a straight swap.

As per the report, the prospective swap is currently under consideration from Arteta. With the Gunners seeking a replacement for Martin Odegaard after his return to Real Madrid, a reunion with Ramsey could fit the bill.

The Welshman scored 64 times in 369 appearances for Arsenal – a rate of around a goal every 5.75 appearances.

Arsenal linked with Joan Jordan

The Gunners, meanwhile, are also being linked with Sevilla midfielder Joan Jordan.

Jordan, 26, has been a pivotal figure in the club’s midfield since arriving from Eibar in 2019. Operating primarily in central midfield, Jordan is deemed one of manager Julen Lopetegui’s ‘untouchables’.

The player is reportedly happy to continue his development in Seville, but there is hope of a deal.

That comes in the form of a €60m (£51.6m) exit clause that could be triggered.

Prising Jordan away from La Liga appears a difficult task at this stage, especially with Sevilla hoping to extend his current contract through to 2024.

However, should Arsenal opt to trigger his release clause, that will force Sevilla to negotiate.
