Arsenal submit £30m bid to land top Arteta target but are £10m short
Arsenal have reportedly submitted a £30million-plus offer for Norwich playmaker Emiliano Buendia, but may end up paying more.
The Argentine playmaker has been on Mikel Arteta’s radar for some time, emerging as one of the Gunners’ top summer transfer targets after an impressive campaign for the Championship winners. The 24-year-old scored 15 goals and added 16 assists in 39 league appearances as the Canaries romped to the title.
Despite winning promotion, Norwich are still expected to lose their star man – with Arsenal and Aston Villa both keen.
The Sun claims that both Premier League clubs have offered in excess of £30m for the Norwich man. However, the transfer tussle will continue, as the Carrow Road outfit wants nearer to £40m.
Norwich are under no pressure to sell but they do expect further offers to be incoming.
Arsenal actually expressed an interest in signing Buendia back in January. However, they decided to wait until the campaign was over to make their move.
And one pundit who thinks that Buendia will be a big hit in the top flight is Danny Mills. But the former Leeds man thinks a switch to Villa makes more sense.

Villa the better bet
He told Football Insider: “You want to play, that’s the most important thing. Villa are probably looking at it as a replacement for Ross Barkley.
“Jack Grealish could even move on at some point. With Arsenal, it’s a little bit scattergun. We’re not really sure what’s going on with them at the moment.
“We don’t know what direction they’re heading in, what style of play they’re going to play. There’s a lot of unanswered questions.
“On the face of it in terms of stability Arsenal were back in the day a bigger club and had better prospects. But actually, you need stability and you want to play and actually, that would be Villa.”
