Birmingham City youngster looking to follow in star brothers footsteps

Jobe Bellingham could be reunited with Jude as the younger brother is linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund.

Bellingham, 16, has been showing excellent progress at Birmingham’s academy and has been tipped for a bright future. Now, German publisher Bild have hinted that Dortmund are eyeing an early move for the talented midfielder. BVB are notorious for their talented youth roster, and they are said to be looking to bolster their ranks with another Bellingham at the club.

The younger brother has been named in matchday squads during EFL Cup fixtures already this season.

The Blues will most likely be hesitant to let another youthful talent go.

However, it may be hard to fight off Dortmund’s interest given the club’s status and Jude’s successful experience.

The England international has been a huge success since joining Dortmund and has cemented himself as a regular starter by already making 60 appearances for the club.

Jude, 18,  has also admitted it would be a dream to see his brother alongside him in Germany.

Speaking in May, the England international told Sky Germany: “It’s a dream for me. But it’s up to him. I hope he will develop further as a boy and as a player.

“He will definitely not play for Schalke.”

It will certainly be interesting to see whether the pair can link-up inside the Bundesliga.

Blues loanee returns to club

Academy goalkeeper Archie Matthews has returned to the club following a brief spell at Bath City.

Matthews joined Bath at the end of September, however, made zero appearances for the National League South side.

The youngster was brought in to Birmingham to bolster their Under-23 goalkeeping options last summer after he was released by Swindon Town.

The club must now decide whether to keep Matthews, or attempt to loan him out once again.
