Chelsea Prem schedule announced: Nightmare opening run, huge Man Utd date

Chelsea face a tough opening run to start the 2021/22 Premier League season, including clashes with Liverpool and Manchester City.

Crystal Palace are up first for the reigning European champions, who begin the season at Stamford Bridge. However, two tough away trips to Arsenal and Liverpool follow. Thereafter, Aston Villa travel to west London before clashes with Tottenham and title-holders City complete a testing opening spell.

Manchester United are at Stamford Bridge in November in the first clash between the sides.

But the Red Devils only host Chelsea in the penultimate game of the campaign, which could yet prove to be massive for title or top-four hopes.

Before the clash with United in November, Leicester host Chelsea at the King Power Stadium.

The return fixture with the Foxes comes in February, two matchdays after the second meeting of the season with Arsenal.

Nevertheless, Thomas Tuchel will be fairly happy with the Blues’ end to the campaign.

West Ham, Everton, Wolves and Watford are the other fixtures in Chelsea’s run-in aside from Man Utd.

As for their festive schedule, Villa are the hosts at Villa Park on Boxing Day before Liverpool travel down south on New Years’ Day.

A tough rest of January follows, with Man City and Tottenham both in action against the Blues.

As for the promoted clubs, Brentford are first up for Chelsea on October 16.

Norwich follow straight after, before Watford finalise the trio in November.

As for the return fixtures, Norwich and Brentford are back-to-back again for Tuchel’s men in between the March international break, before their final game of the season against Watford.

Havertz slams Chelsea expectation

The 2021/22 season is set to be a crucial one for Chelsea midfielder Kai Havertz.

The Germany international impressed early on last term after his £71million move from Bayer Leverkusen, before a serious bout of coronavirus held him back.

He had the last laugh with the winning goal in the Champions League final but says there was one expectation in his debut season he could not handle.
