Crunch Levy talks prompt key Tottenham man to ignore exit talk and pen new deal

Tottenham skipper Hugo Lloris is reportedly set to extend his stay at Tottenham beyond this summer, despite talk of a potential exit.

The France World Cup winner will enter the final year of his current deal this summer, with some reports suggesting that he has no intention on penning a new one. Lloris has been at Spurs since signing from Lyon for €15million back in 2012.

Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano stated last month that Tottenham were yet to make a decision regarding the 34-year-old’s future.

French giants PSG and Lloris’ former club Nice have both been mooted as potential destinations for the veteran stopper.

However, Football Insider claims that Lloris is set to end doubts over his future and remain at the club.

The Frenchman is said to have held crunch talks with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy and expressed his willingness to continue at the club.

Lloris is set to put pen-to-paper on a new contract that will extend his time at the club to beyond a decade and potentially longer.

That would end continued speculation that Spurs are hunting a new stopper. Indeed, Thursday’s Paper Talk suggested that a move for Man Utd stopper Dean Henderson was back on.

Levy also has the small matter of trying to convince Harry Kane not to move on. The England skipper was emotional as he did a lap of the pitch after the home defeat to Aston Villa on Wednesday evening.

The 27-year-old is reported to have told the club that he wants to move on after another trophyless campaign in north London.

Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United have all been named as suitors, although Levy will hold out for £150million for the club’s talisman.

Tottenham to rival Arsenal for Roma ace

Meanwhile, Arsenal and Tottenham are interested in Roma rising star Ebrima Darboe, according to a report in Italy.

Darboe only made his senior debut earlier this month but looks to have a bright future. He has quickly added to his first appearance and has been trusted against the likes of Manchester United, Inter Milan and Lazio. The impression he has made has led to plenty of anticipation about his future.

The midfielder originally comes from the Gambia but moved to Italy without his parents at the age of 14. Now, five years later, he is looking to progress as a professional footballer as his remarkable story continues.

He is still on a youth contract with Roma, which puts them under pressure to tie him down. They are at risk of losing him to other clubs unless they sort out his future.

Indeed, Corriere Dello Sport claims that Arsenal and Spurs are among the clubs keeping tabs on Darboe’s development.

The Gunners are named as the main candidates, as they want to add young prospects to their ranks. But their London rivals Tottenham are also keen.

Roma could be tempted into Spurs swap

If the latter were to make a move, it would represent an interesting subplot. Ex-Spurs boss Jose Mourinho will take over at Roma this summer and has been linked with several players from his former club. But there is a chance that Tottenham could try to take one of his new players as well.

It is not made clear whether Arsenal or Spurs would offer a first-team role to Darboe straight away. He is still a teenager and only has five appearances under his belt.

But he has impressed in all of them and therefore his admirers will be following him closely.

However, they could be warded away if Roma manage to sign him to a senior contract. They are expected to have talks about that in the summer.
