Donny van de Beek granted Man Utd exit wish, but Rangnick leaves door ajar as three clubs hover

Donny van de Beek is closing in on a move away from Manchester United with three sides agreeing to meet the Red Devils’ demands over a deal for the Dutch midfielder.

The Dutch midfielder has endured a throughly-miserable time since leaving Ajax for Old Trafford. Costing £40m from the Dutch giants, Van de Beek has started just four Premier League games in 18 months at the club. As such, it’s no surprise to see him pushing to leave.

To that end, reports earlier this week revealed Ralf Rangnick has given him permission to leave.

For any club interested, however, they must cover Van de Beek’s £120,000 a week wages in full. United are also demanding a loan fee, reportedly in the region of £3m.

Despite the entire package therefore costing in the region of £5.5m, that has not prevented three suitors coming forwards.

Indeed, as per the Manchester Evening News, that chase is being led by Crystal Palace.

However, they are not the only club keen with the paper reporting two other suitors for the player. They state another of those sides is in the Premier League. And while not naming names, Newcastle are being strongly linked.

Further afield, Borussia Dortmund are also reportedly keen.

But it is Palace who, seemingly, are in the driving seat.

The player’s partner, Estelle, is the daughter of Arsenal great Dennis Bergkamp. And the Gunners legend remains close to Eagles manager Patrick Vieira.

Rangnick to leave Van de Beek door open

Despite departing the club this month, Rangnick is refusing to close the door entirely on Van de Beek’s United career.

Indeed, the interim manager hopes the midfielder uses the temporary spell to rediscover his best form again.

As such – and particularly amid doubts over Paul Pogba’s long-term future – he could yet be given a fresh start next season.

United ultimately signed Van de Beek for fears that Pogba would quit that summer. And while that move did not materialise at the time, the purpose of his deal may still ultimately fulfil its reasoning.

Van de Beek, however, is reportedly unhappy at the Red Devils for a series of broken promises about his game-time.

In total, Van de Beek has made 50 appearances for United, scoring twice.
