Euro Paper Talk: Liverpool fight big-name duo for African tormentor with 35 goals in 41 games; Man Utd gem agrees exit

Liverpool chase two clubs for the signing of a star African forward, while a Man Utd academy gem has agreed a five-year exit deal – both in all the latest Euro Paper Talk.

REDS CHASE ONUACHU TRANSFER

Liverpool will tussle Sevilla and RB Leizpig to sign Genk striker Paul Onuachu this summer, according to a report.

The Reds have been blessed in recent seasons with the form of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah. Diogo Jota has added another exciting dimension this season, but fears remain about their squad depth. While Xherdan Shaqiri continues to play a sporadic role, the Swiss and Divock Origi have not played much this season.

They have even struggled for game time amid drop-offs in form for their regular trio, leading some pundits to call for more additions before next season.

On Monday, reports linked Liverpool with a swoop for Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic.

According to Fichajes, though, the Reds are also keeping an eye on Genk’s Nigerian international Onuachu. The 26-year-old moved to Belgium from Midtjylland in the summer of 2019 and scored 10 goals in 29 games in his debut season.

However, he has taken off this term, netting 29 goals in 31 Jupiler Pro League games. Overall, meanwhile, he has netted 35 strikes in 41 games.

Onuachu played against Liverpool in last season’s Champions League group stages, but failed to affect those games.

Nevertheless, Jurgen Klopp’s men are not alone in the transfer hunt, Fichajes adds. Sevilla and Leipzig are looking at signing the talent.

Onuachu is also progressing on the international stage; he has 10 Nigeria caps to his name and three goals.
