Manchester United are edging closer towards a top Serie A star, Nemanja Matic looks likely to leave for a LaLiga giant, while Easter Monday’s Euro Paper Talk claims Tottenham lead the hunt for a powerful new defender.
MILINKOVIC-SAVIC DEAL ON FOR MAN UTD
Manchester United are closing on the signature of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic after a new price tag emerged for the Serbian.
The Lazio star has been a long-term target for United, with his name first emerging as a target under Jose Mourinho. And it seems the Special One could spot a player with Milinkovic-Savic now emerging as one of Serie A’s biggest talents.
Indeed, the midfielder has contributed to 20 goals this season, scoring nine times and weighing in with 11 assists.
Now with Paul Pogba likely to leave as a free agent, Manchester United are reportedly prioritising the 27-year-old as his replacement.
As such, il Corriere dello Sport reckons the Red Devils have held advanced talks with his agent Mateja Kezman.
With the deal also getting the green light from incoming new boss Erik ten Hag, it seems United finally look set to land their man.
Lazio president Claudio Lotito is reportedly seeking £66m for Milinkovic-Savic. His current deal at Lazio expires in 2024 – and this summer appears the best time for Lazio to cash in.
Nemanja Matic set for Atletico Madrid
Atletico Madrid, meanwhile, look likely to offer Milinkovic-Savic’s close pal Nemanja Matic a route out of Manchester.
The experienced midfielder announced last week that he plans to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season.
Now reports in Spain claim Atletico are readying an offer to bring in the 33-year-old midfielder.
Diego Simeone is looking to add more steel to his side and offer his defence even more protection.
With Matic fitting the bill and only having 12 months left on his deal, United are seemingly willing to let him leave for a nominal fee.
