Euro Paper Talk: Man Utd to submit ‘high-impact bid’ to usurp Man City to star signing; Tuchel plans Barcelona raid

Manchester United plan a big bid to beat Man City to a midfield addition, while Chelsea plot a move for a recent Barcelona signing – both in all the latest Euro Paper Talk.

MAN UTD PLAN BENNACER BID

Manchester United are planning to make a bid to beat Manchester City to the signing of Ismael Bennacer, according to a report.

United are reportedly gearing up to address a number of key positions in their squad ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

Indeed, a new striker is supposedly on the cards, while winger and centre-back swoops could also be on the agenda.

But amid United’s wealthy number of options in midfield, Fichajes claims that chiefs are ready to bid for AC Milan star Bennacer in case Paul Pogba leaves.

The Frenchman will have one year left on his deal at the end of the season and his decision over his future will have consequences either way.

However, in case the 28-year-old leaves, the report claims that Bennacer has become a firm Old Trafford target. The Algeria international, who never earned a true chance at Arsenal, moved to Milan from Empoli in 2019.

Since then, the defensive midfielder has played 61 times for the Rossoneri. However, injury has hampered his progress this term and he has only managed 26 outings.

The Red Devils supposedly see the 23-year-old as the next-best option behind Barcelona’s Miralem Pjanic and Leicester’s Wilfred Ndidi, deals for whom will prove financially ‘complicated’.

Bennacer, meanwhile, is open to a new challenge, regardless of the report claiming that his lack of experience at the highest level could be a concern for United.

Nevertheless, signing Bennacer will not come without its challenges. Manchester rivals City are also reportedly in the hunt, with Pep Guardiola an admirer.
