Euro Paper Talk: Race for deadly striker takes twist as Man Utd, Liverpool given fee shock; Arsenal setback in transfer hunt

Manchester United and Liverpool learn the price tag for a star striker target, while West Ham are pipping Arsenal to a transfer – both in all the latest Euro Paper Talk.

MAN UTD, LIVERPOOL EYE VLAHOVIC

Manchester United and Liverpool must stump up ‘monster offers’ to even tempt Fiorentina into selling Dusan Vlahovic, according to a report.

Out of the two clubs, United are most looking forward to a new attacking addition this summer. Harry Kane has become a potential candidate, amid doubts over his Tottenham future. A new winger in Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho also remains a possibility, after his strong end to the season.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have seen the effect that a drop in form from their front three – especially Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane – can do for their fortunes. While they have Diogo Jota back fit, the Reds could sanction another addition up top.

Previous reports have claimed that 21-year-old Vlahovic is a contender to arrive in the Premier League.

The Serbia international has enjoyed a fantastic season, netting 21 goals in 37 Serie A games and proving the standout figure in a largely dismal season for Fiorentina.

However, Corrierre dello Sport reports (via Sport Witness) that the Premier League duo must offer a ‘shower of money’ and put forward ‘monster offers’ to even tempt the club into selling.

The report does not add the sort of fee Fiorentina would expect. Nevertheless, they are in no rush to sell; Vlahovic‘s campaign this term was only his second as a regular first-teamer in Italy.

He also has two years left on his contract and Fiorentina want to tie him down to fresh terms. The club realise they would be able to make a significant profit on the £1.76million they paid for Vlahovic (via Transfermarkt) and are willing to include a release clause.

That could offer United and Liverpool an alternative pathway, but the exit fee will not come cheap as things stand.
