Everton enigma in complete limbo as Rafa Benitez flexes muscles over summer switch

Everton are reportedly unwilling to allow forward Moise Kean go out on another loan and will only let him leave on a permanent deal.

Kean, 21, has yet to show his true colures for the Toffees after arriving from Juventus in August 2019. The Merseysiders paid the Old Lady €27.5m plus €2.5m in add-ons for the Italy star. But they have yet to see much of a return, with Kean scoring twice from 29 Premier League outings during his first season.

He began the 2020-2021 campaign with the Goodison Park outfit but was loaned to Paris Saint-Germain in October. And it proved to be a successful temporary stint in the French capital.

The Vercelli-born star was given 22 Ligue 1 starts among 26 appearances and blossomed at the Parc des Princes. He scored 13 league goals and 17 in all competitions and it seems as though PSG want him back.

Mauricio Pochettino is a fan and has urged club bosses to do what they can to make it happen. It is said that they would prefer another loan deal with an option to buy.

Kean is reportedly happy for the move to happen and sporting director Leonardo is now waiting to hear from Everton. New manager Rafa Benitez has only just arrived at Goodison and already has a tough decision to make.

But it seems it has already been made over the former Hellas Verona loan man. Sky Sports reporter Ben Grounds claims the north-west outfit will not entertain the notion of another loan.

They are willing to let him leave this summer but it must be on a permanent basis. Otherwise, he will remain with the Premier League club and fight for a first-team spot.

Benitez must weigh up Kean options

There is no doubting that the man with nine Azzurri caps has bags of talent but it has not happened at Everton. He has shown plenty of promise with PSG and there are reports that Juventus are also interested.

He came up through the youth ranks in Turin and played 21 senior games, scoring eight times. If he could replicate that sort of form for the Blues then it might make sense to keep him at the club.

Dominic Calvert-Lewis is the main striker but has been linked with a move to Manchester United. It remains to be seen if that happens but it is more likely he will stay and Kean will be on his way.
