Everton revolt begins as Man Utd target makes exit request with Champions League criterion

Richarlison has informed his agent of a desire to leave Everton regardless of whether they stay in the Premier League or not, according to a report.

Everton have endured a turbulent season in which they have been hovering above the relegation zone. With eight games of their season to go, they are still in significant danger. Just four points separate them from 18th-placed Burnley.

The consequences of relegation would likely include some high-profile player exits in the summer. However, that may happen even if they maintain Premier League status.

Everton will require a rebuild in the summer and they may have to make sacrifices to allow it. Two players who are regularly tipped to be sold are Richarlison and his strike partner Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Neither has enjoyed their best season in front of goal, but remain marketable players. Other clubs could view this as an opportunity to get them for a decent fee before reviving their careers.

For example, Arsenal are a candidate to sign Calvert-Lewin. Richarlison, on the other hand, is attracting the likes of Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.

A recent report alleviated some fears Everton may have had about losing both attackers. But now, it has come to light that Richarlison wants out.

According to Football Insider, the Brazil international has told his agent to find him a new club in the summer. Ideally, Richarlison wants that new club to be in the Champions League.

That could have interesting consequences for one of his main suitors, Manchester United. Their chances of securing a top-four finish are still in the balance, although rivals like Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are faltering.

Man Utd need to gain three points on Tottenham and overturn an inferior goal difference from their remaining six matches to break into the Champions League places. It remains to be seen whether it would be a deal-breaker for Richarlison if they miss out.

As far as Everton are concerned, losing Richarlison to anyone would be a blow. However, the fact he is only under contract until 2024 may make this summer the optimal time to cash in.

No asking price is yet clear for a player they paid Watford £35m for in 2018. Since that transfer, he has contributed 49 goals from 145 appearances for the Toffees.

There may not be too many more to add if the 24-year-old gets his way in the summer.
