Leeds have announced the addition of three new members to the club’s board of directors – with one of these, Massimo Marinelli, having previously spent 17 years as CEO of Fiorentina.
Peter Lowy, Massimo Marinelli and Sandro Mencucci will be part of a new six-man board under chairman Andrea Radrizzani. The club has also announced that Andre Tegner has left his role as director.
“Leeds United has today revealed changes to its board of directors as the club looks ahead to a bright future,” a club statement said.
“Massimo, Sandro and Peter join Leeds United chairman Andrea Radrizzani, vice-chairman Paraag Marathe and chief executive officer Angus Kinnear, to complete the board of directors.”
Australian Lowy, a lifelong Leeds fan, is currently the principle of the Lowy Family Group private investment business. He was formerly CEO of the Westfield Group.
Marinelli is chief executive of Radrizzani’s global investment company Aser Ventures. Mencucci, meanwhile, spent 17 years as CEO of Serie A club Fiorentina.
Leeds added: “Andre Tegner departs, having joined as a director alongside Andrea in January 2017. He has been a well-respected advisor to Andrea. He leaves with the thanks and well wishes of everyone at Leeds United.”
The club will complete their first season back in the Premier League after a 16-year absence on Sunday. Their final match of the season sees them tackle relegated West Brom in what will be Sam Allardyce’s final match in charge.
Head coach Marcelo Bielsa’s side are guaranteed a top-10 finish, having lost only one of their last 10 games.
Roberts hits out at Leeds critics
Indeed, that run of form has seen Leeds top the form table as a result of that hugely-impressive run of form under Bielsa.
Their run also makes a mockery of those who claim ‘Bielsa burnout’ would have derailed their season.
That’s something Tyler Roberts was quick to highlight and says he hopes their form has silenced their doubters.
“That’s been something that’s happened over the last few years,” he told Amazon Prime Video. “People think we’re going to fade away towards the end of the season and I don’t get it this year, because we showed last season that we pushed on even more and it’s showing again this season.
“It’s credit to the boys and our fitness.”
