Final fee revealed as Sancho to Man Utd deal on verge of completion

Jadon Sancho is on the verge of finally becoming a Manchester United player after various sources claimed Borussia Dortmund were ready to accept their latest offer.

Sancho has been United’s top target ever since last summer. They failed to meet Dortmund’s asking price in 2020, but that figure has now dropped. Therefore, with the right wing position still an area in need of reinforcement, they are ready to take their opportunity.

Distance has still remained between their offer and Dortmund’s new demands. But confidence has been growing in recent weeks and a conclusion could arrive soon.

According to the Daily Mirror, a deal has almost been agreed between United and Dortmund. The Premier League side could end up paying £75m up front and £5m in add-ons for the England international.

The structure of the payments was previously holding up the deal, but now the clubs seem to have found a middle ground.

Personal terms will not be a problem as Sancho already agreed them when United were trying to sign him last summer. He is expected to sign a five-year contract, with the option of an extra year, worth £250,000 per week.

talkSPORT also expect the new bid to be successful, claiming the deal will go through after Euro 2020 ends. Elsewhere, Sport1 claim it could even happen while the tournament is ongoing.

Sancho has not featured much for England at the summer tournament. But he will hope to be involved in the Round of 16 clash with Germany – the country in which he has built his club career.

Since leaving Manchester City in 2017, Sancho has become a key player for Dortmund. Other than Erling Haaland, he is their most valuable asset.

He now looks close to passing into United’s hands in what will be a long-awaited statement of intent from the Red Devils.

Sancho saga to boost West Ham?

A knock-on effect of the imminent transfer could see Jesse Lingard leave United on a permanent basis.

Lingard enjoyed a purple patch the likes of which he had never produced before while on loan last season. Nine goals and five assists were notched in a 16-game span. That helped thrust West Ham into the top four mix.

David Moyes is keen to bring him aboard on a permanent deal, though the player reportedly has his heart set on remaining in Manchester.

Nevertheless, Lingard recently admitted his future must be determined by where he is likely to generate the most gametime.

As such, the Express (citing he Evening Standard) note that Sancho’s arrival would push Lingard further towards West Ham. In their words, it would be the ‘final nail in the coffin’ of his Old Trafford career.

Negotiations between West Ham and Lingard are said to be on hold until after Euro 2020. That could work in their favour given Sancho could be a Man Utd player before the tournament concludes.
