Harry Kane sure trophy chances will come, as he makes priorities clear
Harry Kane has reiterated his desire to win trophies and says he has “plenty of time in his locker” as Tottenham bid to keep their talisman at the club.
The 27-year-old England star has always spoken publicly about the driving force for his career – silverware. He has never ducked away from suggestions that he wants trophies to accompany his goals. Kane has blasted 31 goals in all competitions this season and very recently admitted he was looking at winning trophies after labelling Spurs’ season “disappointing”.
“I want to be winning the biggest prizes there is to offer and we are not quite doing that,” said Kane.
“It is bittersweet, I would rather be winning team trophies than this one but it is what it is. I am proud to win it, it means it’s been a good season on the pitch.
“So I have got to try and continue what I am doing.”
And speaking to the BBC, Kane has one again emphasised his desire to better himself and win his first major trophy.
“I’ve done so many things in the game but there’s still so many things in my head that I want to achieve,” the striker told BBC Sport.
“I spoke openly about [winning silverware]. That’s the reason why I play the game, that’s why I became a footballer – to win and have those experiences with my team-mates, lifting trophies and winning the biggest games.
“It hasn’t happened so far but I feel I’ve got plenty of time in my locker. I’m just looking forward and I’m sure they will come.”
Rumours of his exit at Tottenham are beginning to gather pace. A fanciful £90m link with Manchester United emerged this week, just days after United’s fans protested over the club’s ownership by storming Old Trafford.
“Well, I was told by somebody high ranking at one of the Premier League clubs that Harry Kane absolutely will leave Tottenham this summer. It’s not even in debate,” Crook said.
It seems though missing out on the Champions League could be crucial in Kane’s thinking
“We have a lot of English players playing at the top of their game,” added the England skipper.
“That should only help us as a national side.

“You want them getting exposed to the biggest games around the world.”
While, speaking about England’s chances at next month’s Euros, Kane added: “Our group has grown stronger year by year. We’ve got a good mix of experience and young talent. It’s important to have that, especially in a tournament environment,” he said.
“I’m sure Gareth has got a bit of a headache of who to pick but that’s what we want. We want competition for places. And that’s the only way we’re going to be one of the best teams in the world.
“We had a great World Cup in 2018. And we didn’t quite get over the line, so with the players we’ve got and the manager and the group of staff it’s a great opportunity for us and we’re excited for the challenge. We know it will be difficult but we’ve got enough ability to try and take it all the way.”
