Journalist reveals Tottenham man who ‘needs to be moved on’ this summer

Journalist Rob Guest has claimed that Tottenham Hotspurs youngster Jack Clarke must be moved on permanently by the club this summer.

Clarke joined Spurs in summer 2019, however, is still yet to make a league appearance for the club. It is understood a fee in the region of £10m was given for his services, with further payments scheduled if certain clauses were met. But currently on loan at Sunderland, Clarke has failed to make an impact with the North London club since his switch.

Now, Football.London Tottenham reporter Guest has claimed that he should be moved on from the club permanently.

Clarke has made 14 appearances for Sunderland in League One this season. During that spell he has scored once and assisted a further two.

And despite Guest admitting the winger has done a good job on loan, he still feels the player should leave in the upcoming transfer window.

He wrote: “Clarke elected to remain at the club at the start of the season and fight for his place. But he only ended up featuring in one Europa Conference League game. Now on loan with Sunderland, the winger has done well at the Stadium of Light and will be intent on helping them to promotion.

“As he will enter the final year of his contract this summer, he needs to be moved on permanently.”

With it being his final year on the current contract, Spurs risk letting Clarke leave for free the following year.

And aged just 21, Spurs still have a chance of getting some return on the initial £10m paid.

Jack Clarke career so far

Having joined Leeds United in 2009, Clarke made his professional debut in 2018 for that same club.

In his first professional season Clarke impressed the Leeds faithful, securing himself a move to the top flight.

However, since that move Clarke has failed to make a single Premier League appearance. His only two Spurs first-team games have come in the Europa League.

A regular in both the under-21 and under-23 squad, Clarke then secured a loan move to Sunderland in January.

Now, it seems increasingly likely that Clarke may be on the move once again in the upcoming transfer window.
