Klopp ‘keen’ on huge raid as Dortmund take evasive action to fend off Liverpool

Borussia Dortmund are ‘doing everything they can’ including trying to make a signing of their own to help fend off a Liverpool raid Jurgen Klopp would love, per a report.

Liverpool have not skipped a beat in their midfield after the departure of trusted general Georginio Wijnaldum. Harvey Elliott initially made waves before suffering a gruesome ankle injury. Since then, it has been James Milner or Naby Keita who have stood up tall alongside Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.

However, speculation continues to swirl over Liverpool making a major move to bolster their midfield next summer.

Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans has regularly been namechecked. The Belgian ace continues to go from strength to strength under Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers.

But according to Goal and Sport Witness (both citing German newspaper Bild), Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham cannot be discounted.

Bellingham is already a regular with England despite only being 18 years old. His rate of development at Dortmund is simply staggering with the teen sensation adding goals and assists to his game this year.

Bild claim Bellingham would be an ideal fit for Klopp’s style, stating he ‘would fit like a fist on the eye for the full throttle football’.

Bellingham would unquestionably be a fine addition to Liverpool’s midfield, though predictably, a deal is laced with difficulties.

Firstly, the reports describe Klopp as ‘keen’ to raid his former club for the midfielder. However, it’s indicated a nine-figure sum would likely be required with a fee of around €120 million (£101m) specifically stated.

Dortmund are understandably reluctant to sell and are ‘doing everything they can’ to ward off suitors. And one step they are reportedly prepared to take to help convince Bellingham to stay is the signing of his brother, Jobe.

Aged 16, Jobe is currently in Birmingham City’s youth ranks. The winger has been a regular with their Under-18s this year and has plundered three goals from five outings.

Sport Witness state the duo’s mother, Denise, would be ‘delighted’ if Jobe followed in Jude’s footsteps to Germany.

And while Liverpool’s desire to land Jude is seemingly strong, they will face an almighty struggle to get this one over the line.

Firmino will have “books written about him” – Klopp

Meanwhile, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp claimed that Roberto Firmino will have books written about him for the way he has revolutionised the false nine position.

Against Man Utd on Sunday, Firmino did not score or assist – unlike hat-trick hero Salah – but Klopp was full of praise for the 30-year-old.

“He played again outstandingly well,” the manager told the Liverpool Echo.

“Mo gets a lot of attention and rightly so but Bobby, for people with football knowledge, I’m pretty sure when he ends playing people will write books about how he interpreted the false nine position.

“I won’t say he invented it! But the way he plays it from time to time looks that way. Some of the defensive things he did on the pitch are absolutely insane.

“Offensively he is obviously a nice link-up player and he scores from time to time. Bobby knows how much we appreciates what he is doing and that is what matters most.”
