Liverpool tipped to take transfer tally to five by signing the ‘new Luka Modric’

Liverpool could plunder the Red Bull organisation for a fifth time to sign Luka Sucic who he is being compared to Croatia legend Luka Modric, per a report.

That’s according to German outlet Bild who reckon one of Liverpool’s transfer priorities this summer will be to rejuvenate their midfield. Ibrahima Konate arrived to shore up the defence last summer. While Luis Diaz added yet more stardust to the forward ranks in January.

Bild reckon the next logical step will be to secure the future of their midfield with regular starters Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara both now 31.

Liverpool and the Red Bull clubs have been frequent trading partners in recent years.

Sadio Mane, Naby Keita, Takumi Minamino and Konate were all signed from either Salzburg or Leipzig.

Bild talk up the prospect of Liverpool taking that tally to five with Salzburg’s Luka Sucic who is described as an ‘ideal’ fit at Anfield.

Sucic is one of Croatia’s brightest young stars and is already drawing comparisons with the legendary Modric back home.

The pair have played alongside each other in the international arena with Sucic making his senior Croatian debut in 2021.

Luka Sucic “can play everything”

He has seven goals and three assists to his name with Salzburg this season. He also counts versatility among his strongest traits.

“I follow [Modric’s] games,” Sucic told Croatian newspaper Slobodna Dalmacija in 2021. “I also look at his play footage, he really is one of the best players in the world.

“By the way, I can play for you in all positions in midfield. I can play everything in attacking and defensive midfield.”

Bild reckon Liverpool’s strong relationship with the Red Bull clubs could serve them well if any approach was made. However, that does not mean a transfer would necessarily be straightforward.

Sucic is reportedly also on the radars of Serie A giants AC Milan and Juventus.

The Reds have already reportedly wrapped up an agreement for Fulham ace Fabio Carvalho. The 19-year-old will move to Merseyside in the summer, thus showcasing new transfer chief Julian Ward already has one eye on the future.
