Local report divulges final fee Leeds will pay Man City as signing nears

Leeds United are expected to wrap up the signing of long-term loanee Jack Harrison before the end of the week after a report detailed the exact fee Manchester City will collect.

The winger enjoyed an excellent season in the Premier League with the Yorkshire outfit. He has scored eight times and assisted eight more goals in 36 appearances in 2020/21. Indeed, no other English midfielder was  involved in more goals last season than Harrison.

The player has become steadily better in each of his three seasons on loan under Marcelo Bielsa. Now, with Leeds making headway over a deal to sign Junior Firpo, Harrison’s signing is soon expected to follow.

Indeed, his permanent move to Elland Road was always a formality. In fact, the only thing left to iron out was the exact fee Manchester City would receive for the winger. But now the Manchester Evening News has shed light on the issue.

They claim Leeds will pay City an initial £11m, with the fee reaching £15m in various, achievable add-ons. Furthermore, they claim City will likely include a sell-on clause in the deal, most likely for around 20%. That’s designed to protect City’s financial losses against any future sale.

Furthermore, it’s expected that Harrison will sign a four-year deal at Leeds, taking him through to summer 2025.

The deal is subject to a final medical check, which is expected to be a formality. The winger has posted videos of himself keeping in good shape over the summer break.

In total Harrison has scored 18 goals and provided 19 assists. That’s 37 goal involvements in 126 games for Bielsa’s side.

For City, that cash will go straight into their summer transfer kitty. They are also expected to sell Lukas Nmecha to RB Leipzig for a fee of around £8.5m.

Harrison welcomes Leeds transfer

Earlier this year, Harrison openly admitted he sees himself making the move permanent. He also cannot see a place for himself under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

“I think something is in place for Leeds this summer,” Harrson said. “It’s been a great experience for me here. Playing three seasons here and not spending much time at Manchester City, it’s hard to feel part of that.”

Given the season he’s enjoyed, Leeds will be getting their hands on a bargain in Harrison, who has been tipped as a future England international.
