Man City face tough opener, intriguing Christmas run as Prem fixtures revealed

The Man City fixtures for the 2021-22 season have been revealed, and they will begin their Premier League title defence with a trip to face Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester City successfully reclaimed their crown from Liverpool last season and will be looking to keep hold of it this time around. It will be a tough, competitive season and their opening schedule is certainly intriguing. Their first game is away at Spurs, who should have their new head coach in place by then.

Significantly, City are one of the main contenders to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham this summer. If that happens, it would mark an instant return to his former stomping ground.

The following Man City fixtures in August are both at home, against Norwich City and Arsenal respectively.

The first Manchester derby of the season will be on November 6th, when City visit Manchester United at Old Trafford. Later, the reverse fixture at the Etihad Stadium is on March 5th.

Another key battle will be against Liverpool; they visit Anfield on October 2nd and welcome the Reds to the Etihad on April 9th.

City face an intriguing winter run, hosting Leicester on Boxing Day before visiting Premier League newcomers Brentford a few days later. Then, they visit Arsenal on New Year’s Day and host Chelsea a fortnight after that.

The season will conclude for City at home to Aston Villa on May 22nd.

Sterling stance affects Kane future

Another subplot behind City’s opening day is that Raheem Sterling has been linked with a move to Tottenham.

The England winger could sweeten a deal for Kane. That’s despite Daniel Levy only wanting a cash-only deal for his star striker.

But Sterling could still appeal and will now have talks over his City future after Euro 2020. The outcome could have an impact on where Kane ends up playing.
