Man Utd players urge Solskjaer to ditch Jadon Sancho bid and sign £75m Premier League star instead

Manchester United players have reportedly urged Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to ditch his continued interest in Jadon Sancho and sign a Premier League playmaker instead.

The Red Devils wanted to sign Sancho last summer. However, they were unable to strike a deal with Dortmund, who demanded in excess of £100million for the England winger. The Bundesliga outfit have now lowered that asking price to around £77m and the 21-year-old is still said to be keen on a move.

But according to a report in the Daily Telegraph, a number of key United men have been so impressed with Jack Grealish’s performances this season that they want the Aston Villa man at Old Trafford instead.

Despite that, it’s believed that Solskjaer still views Sancho as his first choice to bolster his attack. The addition of a new right-winger is a major priority for the Red Devils boss, while Grealish naturally plays on the left.

The 25-year-old, who almost joined Tottenham two summers ago, has been one of the Premier League’s top performers this season. Indeed, his displays are expected to earn him a spot in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the Euros this summer.

While Villa are not keen on selling their top asset, it’s stated a bid of £75m could do the trick.

However, rumours of a potential switch to Old Trafford were scoffed at by Grealish’s agent Jonathan Barnett earlier this month.

He said: “The truth is we don’t know [what will happen]. There are many clubs and I wouldn’t put Manchester United at the top of that [list].

“But he could stay as well. So it’s a conversation the club, Aston Villa, will have with Jack and ourselves then we’ll see where we go.”

Any potential transfer is unlikely to happen before the Euros. That means Grealish’s value could rise if he, and England, enjoy a successful tournament.

Man Utd make huge play to land Kane

Meanwhile, Manchester United will reportedly double Harry Kane’s wages to £400,000-a-week in a bid to steal the Tottenham striker from the grasp of bitter rivals Manchester City this summer.

The two Manchester giants are believed to be at the front of the queue for the England skipper, who is expected to quit Spurs after a long 17-year association with the club at the end of the season. Chelsea, Barcelona and Real Madrid are also in the running. However, Kane is said to favour a switch up north instead.

According to Ian McGarry of The Transfer Window Podcast, he believes that the Red Devils are ready to pay Kane an £18million signing-on-fee, on top of his monster wage rise.

There has even been talk of players moving the other way to sweeten any deal. Anthony Martial is one of the options being mooted, along with two other United stars.

But Old Trafford transfer chiefs would have to break the bank to sign the Golden Boot winner.

There are some suggestions that Daniel Levy could demand as much as £240million to part ways with his talisman. That figure is well above the previous record transfers of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
