Man Utd predicted to solve growing problem with clever swap deal for Inter star

Man Utd could solve one problem for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a January swap deal, according to reports.

The Red Devils have enjoyed a decent start to the campaign. They have picked up 13 points in the league so far and sit fourth in the table after six matches.

The team has been helped hugely by the return of Cristiano Ronaldo. He has notched five goals in as many games since re-joining the club on deadline day.

However, it has not all been perfect for Solskjaer and co. Man Utd were beaten by Swiss outfit Young Boys in their Champions League opener.

They were also knocked out of the Carabao Cup by West Ham and lost 1-0 to Aston Villa in the league recently.

Solskjaer is also having to deal with Dutch playmaker Donny van de Beek. The midfielder was angry to be left on the bench in Wednesday’s Champions League triumph against Villarreal.

He threw his training bib to the ground after realising Jesse Lingard would be coming on instead of him.

When asked about the situation, Solskjaer said he could not afford to have any ‘sulkers’ in his team.

Van de Beek has been heavily linked with a move away from Man Utd, and reports in Italy now suggest a new solution.

Inter Live (via Sport Witness) write that the club could look to involve van de Beek in a swap deal for Milan Skriniar.

The Slovakia international has long been linked with a Premier League switch. He has been regularly courted by Tottenham, but it seems Man Utd are monitoring his situation too.

Race to 10 goals: Salah leads the way but can the Egyptian keep up his fine form?

The report claims that they are ‘dreaming’ of signing Skriniar in the near future. His arrival in Manchester would help to get the best out of Raphael Varane and Harry Maguire, while also providing Solskjaer with an extra option.

The deal could work for van de Beek as well. He is a rumoured target for Inter who is keen to change things up in search of game time.

Working under Inter boss Simone Inzaghi would give him the chance to revitalise his career and get back into the Netherlands squad.

Man Utd urged to avoid van de Beek repeat

Pundit Danny Mills has told Man Utd not to turn Jadon Sancho into another van de Beek.

The England winger joined from Borussia Dortmund for £73m in the summer.

However, he is yet to show his true quality in the famous red strip. Sancho has played eight times so far without scoring or assisting.

Mills told Football Insider: “Sancho needs games and opportunity to play with no pressure. It’s a little bit like the Donny van de Beek situation.

“Every time he plays and doesn’t have a magnificent game then he’s dropped. That’s a lot of pressure.

“You start to try and force things and do things you probably shouldn’t do because you’re trying to impress and stay in the first team.

“He needs confidence from his manager, that he’s going to play three or four games and get a run. Then he’ll probably settle down and play well.”
