Man Utd ready to blow City out of the water with astronomical Harry Kane financial package

Manchester United will reportedly double Harry Kane’s wages to £400,000-a-week in a bid to steal the Tottenham striker from the grasp of bitter rivals Manchester City this summer.

The two Manchester giants are believed to be at the front of the queue for the England skipper, who is expected to quit Spurs after a long 17-year association with the club at the end of the season. Chelsea, Barcelona and Real Madrid are also in the running. However, Kane is said to favour a switch up north instead.

According to Ian McGarry of The Transfer Window Podcast, he believes that the Red Devils are ready to pay Kane an £18million signing-on-fee, on top of his monster wage rise.

There has even been talk of players moving the other way to sweeten any deal. Anthony Martial is one of the options being mooted, along with two other United stars.

But Old Trafford transfer chiefs would have to break the bank to sign the Golden Boot winner.

There are some suggestions that Daniel Levy could demand as much as £240million to part ways with his talisman. That figure is well above the previous record transfers of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

Kane has not exactly played his cards close to his chest regarding his future. He told Gary Neville’s Overlap podcast last week that he was considering his stay in north London.

The fact that Spurs have missed out on elite European football again is sure to be part of Kane’s decision-making.

Ryan Mason’s men qualified for a play-off in the inaugural Europa Conference League after victory at Leicester.

Kane is said to have stated that he wants his future resolved before the start of the Euros. However, with the potential of more than one club being keen on his services, Levy is sure to stretch out negotiations for some time to recoup the biggest fee possible for the club.

Scholes picks out three Man Utd singings

Meanwhile, Paul Scholes has picked three players Manchester United should be looking at this summer if they are to close the gap on Manchester City in the Premier League.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men finished in a creditable second spot, five points ahead of Liverpool, but 12 points behind neighbours City. Solskjaer has made it clear that a runners-up spot has not been championed at Old Trafford. The Norwegian wants to go one place higher and if they can realise another eight-point year-on-year improvement they will go close next season.

Firstly though Solskajer is focused on Wednesday’s Europa League final date with Villarreal.

“It can give belief, of course, but it can also give hunger for more. When you win things you just want to win more. You want to feel that sensation again of lifting trophies,” said Solskjaer.

“I know my players will believe they can win it and that we can move on to better things. But when you get that taste of the first one, that’s a big step in the right direction.”

Regardless of the result in Gdansk, United will be active in the summer transfer market. Solskjaer confirmed plans were afoot ahead of the summer window opening.

“We are looking at the squad, the players who are going to stay, those who might be leaving. I hope that we’re going to strengthen with a few…two or three players that we definitely need to challenge higher up in the table.

“We’re still too far behind to think it is just going to come by itself,” said the United boss.

And Scholes is in agreement and believes Jadon Sancho, Jack Grealish and Marquinhos are the type of players Solskjaer should be looking at.
