Mbappe urged to head to Bundesliga amid latest future admission

Kylian Mbappe has labelled Bayern Munich a “great club” after revealing Lucas Hernandez has urged him to join Bundesliga champions.

The France star’s future has been up for debate in recent months, but the 22-year-old has declared he is “very happy” with the current status quo.

Mbappe’s contract in the French capital expires in June 2022. With just over a year remaining at PSG, speculation has swirled as to where his future lays.

Only last month French player representative, Bruno Satin, said Mbappe was leaving. He told French TV station Canal+ of an apparent ‘agreement’ between Mbappe and Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid.

Mbappe though quickly admitted “how profoundly attached I am to the club” in what looked like an apparent U-turn on his future.

And speaking to SportBild he said: “In football, you never know what’s going to happen. But I am currently very happy as it is.”

That has not stopped Hernandez try to convince him to move away whilst on international duty with France.

“Lucas Hernandez told me that I should come to Munich to play for Bayern.

“Bayern is one of the five best clubs in the world. One can only congratulate them on how they manage to keep the quality in the squad every year. They just know what they’re doing.

“Now [Jerome] Boateng and [David] Alaba have left, but [Dayot] Upamecano, who is an excellent defender, came in. They have a clear concept that makes them a great club.

“And yes, you are always a favourite for any title. So I’ll always have to win against Bayern in the future if I want to win a trophy,” added Mbappe.

Al-Khelaifi confident over Mbappe

Liverpool have also been mentioned as suitors for Mbappe, who was a €180m signing in August 2017.

And 171 games and 132 goals later his value has soared above the €200m mark. That has been the primary factor why Jurgen Klopp has not been able to lure Mbappe to Anfield.

According to L’Equipe, Klopp spent “several hours” trying to convince Mbappe to join the club three years ago. Klopp apparently made an impression on the player, and has a “direct line” to the forward.

PSG’s president Nasser Al-Khelaifi though is adamant that Mbappe will extend his contract in the French capital.

“For me, Kylian is a PSG player and will be a PSG player. I am not worried,” Al-Khelaifi said in May, as cited by the Mirror. “Do not worry, let us work. Mbappe is Parisian. He is French, he is Parisian, he is under contract and he wants to stay 100 per cent.”
