Media briefed, as Man Utd have ‘total agreement’ over £73m Jadon Sancho transfer

Manchester United are close to the signing of Jadon Sancho after agreeing a deal with Borussia Dortmund, claims a number of reputable sources.

United officials have been working behind the scenes to progress a deal for the 21-year-old winger. And while Sancho is currently holed up at St Georges’ Park with England, United now have a “total agreement” with Dortmund for the £73m (€85m) transfer.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein reports that United have been given the go ahead to “finalise personal terms”.

United are also expected to schedule a medical for the attacker, who was a target for the club last summer.

Sky Sports report that Sancho will complete the transfer after England’s Euro 2020 tilt finishes.

The two clubs have agreed on a payment structure for the player, who was priced at €108m last summer.

Dortmund had a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ with Sancho that he would be allowed to leave this summer if potential suitors met their valuation.

The Athletic and Sky now understand United have done exactly that.

This summer Dortmund’s asking price at the start of the window was in excess of £85m, but United have managed to get a £12m reduction on that.

Rashford gave the game away

Marcus Rashford appeared to confirm the deal was done in a now deleted social media post on Tuesday.

Asked by @unitedcloud in response to a thread on Twitter to ‘announce Sancho’, Rashford replied with a simply ‘Yes x’.

Reports earlier this week stated the deal is all but agreed and will make Sancho the third most expensive recruit in United’s history.

Sancho is expected to earn around £250,000 a week at Old Trafford, on what will likely be a five-year contract.

He has already started the process of finding a house in the Manchester area, according to The Athletic.

BVB have been actively looking for a replacement. And that player looks likely to be England under-21 winger Noni Madueke.

Madueke, 19, played for England Under-21s at the European Championships in March.

The former Tottenham Academy star scored nine goals in 31 appearances PSV Eindhoven last season.

Madueke is under contract until 2024 and will cost a fraction of the £73m BVB will bank from the sale of Sancho.
