More details emerge as Hamburg deal for Crysencio Summerville take another step forward

Hamburg talks over the Crysencio Summerville transfer from Leeds United are seemingly moving forward – with more information arriving about the deal reportedly taking him to northern Germany.

The 20-year-old Dutchman has broken into the Leeds side this season and done well during his eight appearances to date. He has made just one start so far though and Leeds are reportedly open to his exit on loan to further his experience.

Indeed, Summerville is eager to further his first-team experience with the likes of Raphinha, Jack Harrison and Daniel James all ahead of him in the Elland Road pecking order.

As such, the likes of Blackburn and Rangers have both been credited with an interest. That said, Rovers’ interest appears to have waned, with Tony Mowbray’s side instead signing a Tottenham youngster.

However, it seems Summerville could get the chance to further his game-time with a move to the 2.Bundesliga side.

The prospective move though has been met with a backlash by Leeds fans, already concerned about the depth in their squad.

However, while Leeds themselves are yet to comment on the speculation, more reports in Germany have posted details.

Indeed, as per Hamburg website HSV1887tv, the club are negotiating a loan deal with Leeds with the option to make the move permanent in the summer.

HSV1887tv’s post states: ‘According to several consistent sources, HSV are in advanced negotiations with Leeds United winger Crysensio Summerville. A loan with an option to buy is under discussion.’

Furthermore, Bild claims the deal is also ‘gaining speed’, while Hamburger Abendblatt claims the promotion chasers are also in close contact with Summerville’s agent.

Horst Hrubesch’s side are currently fifth in the second tier in Germany and look well placed to push for promotion.

Hamburg want Summerville transfer as long-term option

As per widespread reports, Summerville is ‘eager to play more’ and is seemingly pushing for a move this month.

However, they state Hamburg sports directors Jonas Boldt and Michael Mutzel are looking for a solution ‘beyond the summer’ and want Summerville for next season too.

Their star man Faride Alidou looks likely to move to Eintracht Frankfurt. As such, Summerville is the man they are earmarking as his replacement.

Summerville’s deal at Leeds runs to the summer of 2023. As such, any such long-term loan will require Leeds to tie him to a new deal before sanctioning any such exit.

Talks are reportedly continuing to find a solution, with Leeds seemingly happy to wait another few days. The Whites’ injury issues are easing up front. Indeed, Rodrigo Moreno, Tyler Roberts and Joe Gelhardt were all back in action on Saturday.

Summerville though was not part of the Leeds matchday squad that lost to Newcastle. Nor did the winger play for their Under-23s on Monday night. His lack of involvement fuelled speculation that he could be on the move. Now the links to Hamburg now emerging as a likely reason why.
