Moura stunner helps down Norwich as Conte has Tottenham on a roll

Goals by Lucas Moura, Davison Sanchez and Son Heung-Min gave Tottenham a comfortable 3-0 victory over Norwich at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Moura struck in the first period and, despite a plucky effort by the Canaries, they added two more after the break. Their third consecutive win lifts Spurs above Arsenal in the table and up to fifth while Norwich sit at the bottom.

Antonio Conte made just one change from the Tottenham side that beat Brentford 2-0 on Thursday evening. Defender Japhet Tanganga returned to the starting XI in place of the ill Emerson Royal.

Dean Smith changed three of his starters from the Norwich team that drew 1-1 at Newcastle on Tuesday. Pierre Lees-Melou, Adam Idah and 19-year-old defender Andrew Omobamidele were brought in as Smith employed a 5-3-2 system.

Spurs were looking to keep pace with the top four and build on back-to-back top-flight wins. But it was the Canaries who enjoyed the first opportunity, with Teemu Pukki forcing an early save from Hugo Lloris.

However, the hosts were in front on 10 minutes, with a stunner from Moura. The Brazilian rifled into the top corner after an exquisite one-two with Son – his first league goal of the season.

Norwich continued to push despite the setback and kept Spurs in their own half for long periods. And Conte was forced to make a change midway through the half as the injured Sergio Reguilon gave way to Ryan Sessegnon.

Spurs began to dominate as the half wore on and Ben Davies almost turned in Son’s cross on 39 minutes. And just 60 seconds late, Harry Kane tried an audacious lob from 30 yards.

However, the England skipper was forced to wait for his second top-flight goal this term as the effort drifted wide.

It was far from a vintage first-half display by the hosts and an uneasy atmosphere hung over the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as the players drifted off.

Spurs flew out of the traps after the interval and earned an early corner. But Kane failed to make any meaningful contact with a header from Son’s delivery and his effort flew harmlessly wide.

There was little to speak about in terms of chances, with Grant Hanley’s header landing on the roof of the net on 53 minutes. However, the visitors should have been on level terms on the hour mark.

Brandon Williams’ cross found its way to Idah after Pukki’s sliced effort but the Irishman’s weak effort drifted wide.

Sanchez settles Tottenham nerves

Matt Doherty replaced Tanganga on 62 minutes for just his third league outing of the season. And just five minutes later Conte’s men doubled their advantage through Sanchez.

Davies flicked on Son’s corner at the near post, allowing the Colombian to lash it past Tim Krul and into the net.

The goal seemed to settle nerves within the stadium as there was audible unrest that Norwich might equalise. Kane has been a shadow of himself at times this season but his confidence grew as the match wore on.

However, Krul made no mistake with his shot from distance. But there was nothing the Dutchman could do to prevent Tottenham’s third as Son put the game to bed.

Davies found the Korean after a one-two with the impressive Oliver Skipp and Son made no mistake.

There was still time for Doherty to lash a shot high wide and handsome in stoppage time. But it did not matter as the points stayed in north London to continue the Spurs’ revival.
