Newcastle begin the 2021/22 Premier League season with a home date against West Ham on Saturday 14 August after the fixtures for the new season were announced on Wednesday.

The Hammers enjoyed an excellent campaign last time out, finishing sixth to secure European football. The game will be a familar one for Toon fans – indeed, it is the seventh time United have tackled the Hammers on the opening day.

After that follows a trip to Aston Villa and a home date with Southampton – before a big September follows.

In that month, Steve Bruce’s side are up against Manchester United (a), Leeds (h) before the month closes at Watford.

It’s the Christmas fixtures though that catch the eye. Newcastle tackle Man City at home on December 18 and then Manchester United at home on Boxing Day. The New Year begins with a long trip to Southampton.
