‘Not happy’ – agent details Edinson Cavani mindset as new suitors join striker hunt

Edinson Cavani definitely sees a future for himself away from Manchester United after a South American-based agent lifted the lid on the striker’s unhappiness at his Old Trafford situation.

The veteran Uruguayan star has been forced into something of a backseat with the Red Devils this season. The summer signings of Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo leave Cavani as little more than a bit-part player. Indeed, Cavani has made just eight appearances this season, six of which have come off the bench.

A host of sides have shown interest in the minutes-starved frontman. Juventus and Napoli comprise Serie A’s suitors. South American trio Corinthians, Boca Juniors and Penarol are also believed to be admirers.

The main interest, however, has come from Barcelona. They were reportedly leading the chase to land him, though their interest looks to have faded following an agreement instead for a £46m Manchester City man.

That appears to have ended Cavani’s prospects of a move to the Nou Camp.

However, Cavani appears ready to push for a move away with agent Andre Cury spilling the beans on his unhappiness.

While Cury does not represent the 34-year-old, he reckons a move to Brazilian side Corithians looks a serious option.

“He is unhappy at United. He’s a guy I already know a little about his history because we almost brought him to Palmeiras the other time,” Cury said, via Torcedores.

Cavani sees sense in Brazil move

“He’s a guy who owns a farm in Uruguay and likes to be close to home. So in that sense there might be some possibility.

“Now, obviously if he has an offer from Barcelona, he won’t come to Brazil. If he has no choice other than Barcelona or that level of a big club that plays in the Champions League, then I think there’s a chance for the deal to happen, yes.”

Amid the imminent signing of Torres, Cury claims Barca may be sending mixed messages to Cavani.

“Today, we’re not really sure of what happens at Barcelona. To give you an idea, I was still working there when they said that [Luis] Suarez was old and we paid him to leave, but then they signed [Sergio] Aguero, who’s older than him.

“So, the club has been doing the things they shouldn’t do for some time now.

“Cavani is a great name and has the technical conditions to play for Barcelona. This can happen not because of the club’s desire, but because of the economic issue.”

Sevilla enter Cavani running

With confusion ensuing over potential interest from Barcelona, Cavani may yet find himself moving to Spain with Sevilla.

The LaLiga side have also recently shown an interest in his United teammate Anthony Martial.

However, despite talks over a deal, Sevilla may struggle to meet United’s financial demands for the Frenchman.

Martial is reportedly keen on moving to Andaluscia, though United’s £30m asking price appears problematic.

As per Mundo Deportivo, however, they could have more joy in an approach for Cavani.

Indeed, it would only take a minimum fee for La Roja to convince United to sell.

And despite his advancing years, the deal looks more appealing to Sevilla as they bid to add more firepower.

Julen Lopetegui’s side are the nearest challengers to Real Madrid in the LaLiga title race, though their results have recently stuttered.
