Nottingham Forest boss looks to reunite with struggling striker

Nottingham Forest have been linked with a move for out of form Sheffield United forward Rhian Brewster.

The former Liverpool youngster has made just three starts this season for the Blades. Brewster has just one goal from 38 appearances and has been heavily linked with a move away from Bramall Lane. Now, a report from Nottingham Forest News has suggested boss Steve Cooper is interested in reuniting with his former star-man.

Cooper managed Brewster at Swansea where the striker enjoyed his most successful spell so far – scoring 11 goals in 22 games.

Also working him during his England youth set-up days,  their relationship stretches back a number of years.

However, a loan move for the 21 year-old may prove a difficult task if Slavisa Jokanovic’s comments are anything to go by.

Speaking last week to NottinghamshireLive, the Sheffield United boss said on Brewster: “I’m not thinking about that. We are thinking about how to balance our squad.

“He wasn’t in the squad for the last game because I had two strikers on the bench and to find the balance, normally I try to find two defenders, two midfielders and two strikers.

“For Rhian, it’s an opportunity to change my mind.”

The talented youngster showed exciting promise in the early stages of his career and was tipped as the future of England.

If anyone is to reignite that flame and get Brewster back on the right path, Cooper seems to be the man for the job.

Club legend believes recruitment key to success

Club legend Frank Clark has said recruitment will be the key to success for new manager Cooper.

The former club ambassador and European Cup winner said that transfer business is an area the club has fallen short in their pursuit of promotion to the Premier League.

Forest are notorious for having a high turnover of players, and this summer saw 18 players depart with ten new faces brought in.

Behind the scenes they’ve been making key changes to their recruitment set-up, as well as the arrival of new CEO Dane Murphy.
