Paper Talk: Agreement in place as Mourinho strikes to bring Man Utd star to Roma; Liverpool near Brazilian midfielder

Jose Mourinho is poised to secure a cheeky signing from Manchester United for Roma, there’s some developments over Jack Grealish’s future, while Wednesday’s transfer gossip has news of Liverpool closing on the signing of a new midfielder.

CAVANI TIPPED FOR ROMA TRANSFER

Jose Mourinho reportedly wants to take Manchester United star Edinson Cavani to Roma this summer, with an agreement supposedly in place.

Cavani made a big impression during his debut season at Old Trafford, scoring 17 goals in 39 appearances. He was heavily tipped with a return to South America with Boca Juniors before signing a one-year extension.

However, with a deal for Jadon Sancho all-but done, United are likely to try and lighten their load.

Anthony Martial is one player who looks likely to leave. But the Daily Star, quoting an Italian source, claims Cavani could also be shown the door.

“If Dzeko goes away, Cavani arrives,” Damiano ‘Er Faina’ Coccia told Calciomercato.

“The problem isn’t Dzeko, who wants to leave, but that there’s no team that wants to take the Bosnian.

He also claims United’s decision to pin Cavani down to a new deal will ensure they receive a decent fee for the striker.

“Tiago Pinto [Roma’s general manager] is strongly probing Cavani. In principle there’s a basic agreement between the club and the player.

“The problem is that Cavani isn’t expiring and it will be necessary to give United compensation.”

As per reports, United can expect to receive a fee in the region of £8m for the 34-year-old.

Alongside Granit Xhaka and Rui Patricio, the trio are expected to become Mourinho’s first signings at Roma.
