Pieces falling into place for Tottenham target’s transfer, as Real Madrid demand sparks perfect storm

Marco Asensio looks increasingly likely to move on this summer after a report revealed how a Real Madrid action has inadvertently helped Tottenham’s transfer rivals.

The Spaniard, 26, will see his current deal at the Bernabeu expire in 2023. As such, the upcoming summer would be the perfect time for Real Madrid to cash in and varying reports have indicated that’s exactly what they’re looking to do.

Indeed, a whole host of Premier League clubs including Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham have all drawn links.

The latest report from Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo revealed Spurs – along with AC Milan – both made contact with Asensio’s camp last summer.

What’s more, the outlet now claimed the pair are poised to re-open the communication lines ahead of a summer swoop.

Tottenham’s forward line is currently settled with Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski all in irresistible form.

However, Liverpool have shown the benefits of having elite strength in depth this season with their quintet of superstar forwards helping Jurgen Klopp to challenge for an unprecedented quadruple.

Asensio could therefore be a fine addition to Spurs’ ranks. However, SempreMilan have now detailed why AC Milan are the favourites.

Loan recall could swing Asensio transfer

The online outlet state Real Madrid want to recall Brahim Diaz a year early from his loan spell in Milan.

His return would leave a void and it’s stated either Asensio or Sassuolo’s Hamed Junior Traorè could fill it.

The likelier outcome is seemingly a move for Asensio with Milan tipped to use Real’s Diaz demand to their advantage.

Adding further fuel to the fire is the excellent relations Real and AC reportedly hold.

On top of multiple Diaz loan deals, the two clubs also came together for the transfer of Theo Hernandez in 2019. Real president Florentino Perez and Milan chief Paolo Maldini reportedly have strong connections.

The final nail in the coffin of Tottenham’s transfer hopes could come via the money route.

Asensio reportedly pockets €5m net per season in Spain. With bonuses included, Milan would be able to match that figure to ensure Asensio does not need to take a pay-cut.
