Pivotal factor revealed, as second Bundesliga side plot Liverpool transfer steal

Wolfsburg have joined the transfer hunt with Liverpool and Bayern Munich for rising RB Salzburg star Karim Adeyemi, according to a report.

The 19-year-old continues to make headlines across Europe following his exploits in recent months. He earned his first Germany call-up in September, but made an instant impression with a goal.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, he broke Thomas Muller’s record to become the youngest German to score a Champions League brace.

As a result of Adeyemi’s achievements, Liverpool have had links with signing him.

However, Adeyemi is a former Bayern academy starlet. As such, he has admitted that he would probably return there if they made an offer to buy him back.

According to Bild, though, Wolfsburg are also in the hunt to sign the teenager.

Indeed, the club, who sit third in the Bundesliga standings – had a move for Adeyemi blocked last summer.

What’s more, Adeyemi has a chance to prove his worth against Wolfsburg in the Champions League this month.

The sides face off in Austria in the third matchday of an evenly-poised Group G after the international break.

As for Liverpool’s interest, signing Adeyemi would follow their recent transfer policy. The Reds have poached Salzburg – and RB Leipzig – for Takumi Minamino, Ibrahima Konate and Naby Keita in recent times.

Sadio Mane also learned his trade at Salzburg before moving to Southampton. Furthermore, Adeyemi would present good sell-on value for the club’s Fenway Sports Group owners.

However, another report has claimed that Chelsea failed with an attempt to bring him into their academy.

As well as breaking Muller’s Champions League record, Adeyemi could break an Arjen Robben record in the competition this season. The attacker has already won four penalties – as many as Robben did in 2013/14 – in just two matches.

Indeed, he starred to help his country win Euro 2020 this summer.

According to a report, though, his career could have been panning out in different fashion.
