Chelsea romped to a 7-0 Premier League win over Norwich at Stamford Bridge as the 10-man Canaries suffered a torrid afternoon.

Mason Mount only took eight minutes to give the Blues the lead and, from there, it was one-way traffic. Indeed, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James made it 3-0 before half time.

In the second half, Ben Chilwell continued his fantastic scoring form. Max Aarons’ own goal followed before Mount completed his hat-trick. Norwich defender Ben Gibson also got a second yellow card and a subsequent red, making it even easier for the hosts.

As for who stood out, Hudson-Odoi answered Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel’s call for him to step up following injuries to Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner. Mount also terrorised Norwich’s defence all afternoon.

Meanwhile, fan-favourite centre-back Antonio Rudiger popped up all over the pitch and enjoyed adopting a more attacking role.

Chelsea

Edouard Mendy: Very little to do in the opening 45 minutes, gobbling up two Norwich passes. However, he made a crucial save to deny Milot Rashica in the second half. 8/10.

Trevoh Chalobah: Quiet, but did what he had to do in the first half. Barely had to feature after the break. 8/10.

Thiago Silva: Had little to do in the first half, but made up for a rare mistake which allowed him to play a part in Chelsea’s second goal. 8.

Antonio Rudiger: Chelsea’s fan favourite put on a show. He curled a shot on goal after five minutes before beating a man like a right winger on the flank. Had another shot and chased after the deflection. Similarly impressive in the second half. 9.

Reece James: Impressive defending to stop Dimitris Giannoulis on most occasions the Norwich man got forward in the first half. Lovely desire to get forward and a brilliant chipped finish for 3-0. 9.

Jorginho: Chelsea’s chief conductor. His flick-on set Mount’s first goal up and his passes were generally excellent in the first half. His influence continued throughout the second half. 9.

Mateo Kovacic: His defence-splitting pass was inch-perfect for Hudson-Odoi to run on to for his goal. Similarly impressive after the interval as Chelsea dominated. 8.

Ben Chilwell: Was up and down the pitch for Chelsea before the break, putting in a couple of crosses before heading clear twice. Had a moment to forget when he gave Rashica a chance, but he responded by making it 4-0. 9.

Callum Hudson-Odoi: Great movement for his goal to drag Ozan Kabak this way and that – which he did a lot – before a cool finish. Impressive passing range too. 9.

Mason Mount: Stole the show by terrorising Norwich with a hat-trick and an assist. Fantastic accuracy for his first, striking the ball through a defender’s legs and in off the post. Had two more great chances and his pass for James’ goal was inch-perfect. 10.

Kai Havertz: Enjoyed a strong opening to the game, but his impact waned before the break. Contributed to Chelsea’s dominance in the second half. 8.

Substitutes:

Ruben Loftus-Cheek (on for Jorginho, 64): Has looked for a greater role under Tuchel this season and enjoyed his midfield chance in the second half with Chelsea in the ascendancy. 7.

Hakim Ziyech (on for Hudson-Odoi, 70): Didn’t get into the game too much, but curled a shot just wide after 78 minutes. 7.

Ross Barkley (on for Toney, 75): Made himself known with a shot which he dragged just wide of the post. 7.

Norwich

Tim Krul: Saved shots from Rudiger and Mount, but gave the ball away which led to Chelsea making it 3-0. Made some fantastic saves in the second half, despite conceding four more. Saved a penalty from Mount, but conceded the retake as he was off his line. 5/10.

Ozan Kabak: Struggled with Hudson-Odoi’s dribbling and turn of pace, but caught the Chelsea man sleeping later in the first half. Generally, though, he did not have the best of afternoons. 2.

Ben Gibson: Struggled all afternoon against Chelsea’s front line, but he did make a few important tackles and headers before the break. Lunged in late on James for his second yellow. 1.

Grant Hanley: Like Gibson, he did have a few key contributions but not when it mattered. 2.

Max Aarons: Fired a dangerous pass across Chelsea’s box in the first five minutes, but he struggled to get forward again once the hosts took the lead. 2.

Pierre Lees-Melou: Stopped a Norwich attack with a foul, before getting a yellow card. Struggled against the hosts’ dominance after the break. 2.

Mathias Normann: He was completely dominated in the first half and could not get a hold of the likes of Jorginho and Kovacic. Yellow-carded for a handball which led to Mount’s penalty. 2.

Kenny McLean: Quiet in the first and second halves as Norwich struggled to get forward. 2.

Dimitris Giannoulis: Norwich’s brightest attacking outlet in the first half, but James got hold of him. Came off at half time. 4.

Josh Sargent: Not much impact in the first half and came off after the break. 2.

Teemu Pukki: Had no chances at all in the first half at all and that continued after the break. 1.

Substitutes:

Milot Rashica (on for Lees-Melou, 45): Had an immediate impact, nicking the ball off Chilwell’s poor pass and causing Chelsea concern at the back, but could not find a goal. 3.

Brandon Williams (on for Giannoulis, 45): The Manchester United loanee did not get into the game as much as he would have liked. 2.

Andrew Omobamidele (on for Sargent, 69): Failed to affect the game. 1.
