Pundit savages claim Everton man could be ‘hell of a player’ for Liverpool, Man City

A pundit has brutally responded to Neil Warnock’s claim that Dele Alli could be ‘a hell of a player’ for Liverpool or Manchester City.

The attacking midfielder ended his long association with Tottenham by joining Everton on January 31. The Toffees are yet to pay any money for him, although they will owe Tottenham £40million if certain conditions are met.

Many Everton fans were hoping Dele could get back to his best at Goodison Park. However, hasn’t made a significant impact on Merseyside so far.

The 26-year-old is yet to register a goal contribution after making six appearances for Everton. And he hasn’t even got off the bench in their last four Premier League matches.

Earlier this week, former Sheffield United boss Warnock gave his verdict on Dele’s predicament.

He thinks the 37-cap international would excel at Liverpool or City, going as far as predicting him to become ‘a hell of a player’ once again.

“When I look at Dele, I feel sorry for him,” Warnock said during an appearance on Sky Sports.

“Everton aren’t a team good enough or strong enough to give him the ball in the right areas.

“You play him off [Dominic] Calvert-Lewin. Play him off the striker and give him the ball in them areas. But they don’t do that.

“They’re under the cosh all the time. They pass it in silly areas. They don’t play them balls into feet and get runners, which he is good at.

“I think if you put him into Liverpool or Man City’s team, then you would get a hell of a player out of him.”

Dele Alli claim pushed back

But former Liverpool man Jose Enrique doesn’t believe that is the case.

When asked about Warnock’s suggestion, Enrique tweeted: “To be honest I don’t know what he is talking about.

“Doesn’t play for Tottenham. Doesn’t play for [an] Everton [side] that is fighting against relegation – and he is a good fit for Liverpool?”

Everton are back in action next Wednesday, when they host Leicester City in the Premier League. After that, Frank Lampard’s men come up against rivals Liverpool on Sunday April 24.
