Rangers star told to follow in Kamara footsteps and pen new deal

Former Rangers defender Alan Hutton has urged Joe Aribo to follow in Glen Kamara’s footsteps and sign a new contract at Ibrox.

Midfielder Kamara was being eyed by several clubs in England over the summer but last week he penned a fresh deal until 2025. And now Hutton has urged Aribo to follow suit and commit himself to Steven Gerrard’s side.

Speaking to Football Insider, Hutton suggested that securing Aribo’s future should be high on Rangers’ priority list.

Hutton said: “It must be a priority. He’s one of the top players within that squad.

“For him, as a player, to see the likes of Glen Kamara sign a new deal. Obviously, there’s one been offered to Connor Goldson, we don’t quite know what’s happening there yet.

“There’s people round about him that are signing. Hopefully, he can follow in their footsteps.

Transfer clause a decent option

“You can come up with some sort of clauses if some top team does come in for them. There can be a figure put in there that’s acceptable on both sides.

“That can also rush through a deal, if you want. We’ll wait and see how it pans out.”

Aribo joined Rangers on a free transfer after leaving Charlton at the end of his contract in 2019.

The Nigeria international has since played 104 times across all competitions for Ibrox outfit and has become a firm fan favourite.
