Rashford confirms Man Utd signing Jadon Sancho with simple social media post

Manchester United will sign Jadon Sancho this summer after Marcus Rashford appeared to confirm the deal was done in a now deleted social media post.

Sancho’s long-running transfer to United will finally go through this summer. The fee expected to be worth at least £77.4million, with additional bonuses. The 21-year-old will not have a medical until after England’s involvement at Euro 2020 finishes.

Reports earlier this week stated the deal is all but agreed and will make Sancho the third most expensive recruit in United’s history.

Sancho is expected to earn around £250,000 a week at Old Trafford, on what will likely be a five-year contract.

The structure of the payments was previously holding up the deal, but now the clubs seem to have found a middle ground. And Dortmund have also seemingly found his successor in the form of an England U21 star.

There is no doubt about it, the Bundesliga side, who resisted all attempts last season from United to sign the player, are resigned to losing him.

Indeed, all that’s left really is for Sancho to pass his medical and two clubs to confirm the transfer. United fans will likely believe it for real when they see Sancho in a United shirt.

However, any nerves they may have had over confirmation of the deal appear to have been shredded by Rashford.

Asked by @unitedcloud in response to a thread on Twitter to ‘announce Sancho’, Rashford replied with a simply ‘Yes x’.

The tweet, quite obviously, caused a huge stir among United’s fans. It even drew a response from trusted transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who has been close to developments right the way through.

Realising the graveity in what he had done, the post was soon deleted.

So it now just seems a matter of when not if United parade Sancho in his new colours.

England now face Ukraine in the Euro 2020 quarter-final in Rome on Saturday. The Three Lions’ continued involvement in the tournament will keep that announcement on ice for now.

Martial tipped to make way for Sancho

Sancho’s signing for United will likely mean a departure of two.

Indeed, over the weekend it was claimed that Anthony Martial and attacking midfielder Donny van de Beek could be the most high-profile victims of the revamp.

France international Martial dropped off again this season after enjoying a strong 2019/20 campaign.

The Daily Mirror reports that “Martial is expected to be sold to make way for Sancho”.

Tottenham are named as the “interested” suitors in the striker, who failed to make the France squad for Euro 2020.
