Real Madrid offer flop Eden Hazard back to Chelsea for cut-price fee

Real Madrid are prepared to offload Eden Hazard back to Chelsea for just a fraction of the price they paid for him, claims a report.

Hazard, 30, moved to Real Madrid from the Blues in 2019 for a whopping €100m, which could rise to €146.1m due to add-ons. But it is fair to say after winning the Premier League and Europa League twice with Chelsea, his time in Spain has been a disaster.

Hazard has been plagued by injuries. And he has failed to look like the player who was named Chelsea Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year before he left.

In fact he has been dreadful for Los Blancos. He has scored just five times and has nine assists in 55 appearances.

This season he has made just 12 appearances and has just one assist. And now, according to the Transfer Exchange Show, Madrid are ready to cut their losses.

In fact the outlet say that Real have approached Chelsea about taking back Hazard for a cut-price fee of £23m.

Whether or not the LaLiga side still owe Chelsea any money for Hazard is unclear. But it seems as though Carlo Ancelotti has given the green light to get rid of the Belgium international.

Vinicius Junior has been in sensational form on the left for Ancelotti. While Rodrygo and Marco Asensio have been alternated on the right wing.

Hazard did get a 10-minute run-out in the 2-0 Champions League win over Inter Milan on Tuesday, but his long-term future looks bleak.

Hazard future

As for Chelsea, well Thomas Tuchel is not short of attacking options. He has a wealth of talent and it’s unlikely he would take Hazard, even at the price mentioned.

So for the meantime, Real look stuck with Hazard and his £400,000-a-week wages. And unless Real compromise with a loan deal next month, he looks likely to see out the season at the Bernabeu.

Whether or not Real’s proposed move for Blues defender Antonio Rudiger will impact the deal is unknown.

CaughtOffside, citing reports in the Spanish press, provided a big update on the future of Rudiger this week.

They wrote that Germany international Rudiger had agreed to join Madrid. He is preparing to pen a three-year deal at the Santiago Bernabeu. It’s a deal which will likely take place this winter.

It would not be a surprise if Real tried to offload Hazard while in talks with Chelsea about Rudiger.
