Scouting mission proves successful as Leeds join race for Liverpool target

Liverpool scouts were reportedly joined by counterparts from Leeds United in watching a Villarreal attacker this week.

The Spanish side have a number of exciting players in their current squad. They lifted the Europa League trophy in May and clubs have since sat up and taken notice.

Spain international Pau Torres has previously been targeted by Manchester United. He is now gaining admiring glances from both Manchester City and Chelsea.

Reports suggest that City are ‘well placed’ to launch a bid in the January transfer window. Chelsea, meanwhile, could look to Torres as a long-term replacement for Antonio Rudiger.

Torres’ team-mate Arnaut Danjuma also looks set for interest from English clubs.

Football Insider state that Leeds and Liverpool scouts were in attendance during Villarreal’s most recent game.

Man Utd beat Unai Emery’s side 2-1 in the Champions League. Danjuma put in an exciting display, despite the loss.

The left winger caused Diogo Dalot problems all night. He also assisted Paco Alcacer for Villarreal’s opener, only for Man Utd to take the three points with goals from Alex Telles and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The report claims that Leeds are looking to sign a talented new winger with the potential to perform regularly in the Premier League.

It suggests that they could be looking for Raphinha’s replacement. Jurgen Klopp wants the Brazilian star at Anfield.

A move to the top flight would be an interesting turn of events for Danjuma. The Netherlands international, 24, only joined Villarreal on August 19.

They signed him from Championship outfit Bournemouth for a reported £21.3m.

Danjuma has reached the next level in Spain and could get even better under the careful guidance of Marcelo Bielsa.

Leeds looking to sign Arsenal misfit

The Whites aren’t just monitoring reinforcements in wide areas. Journalist Ekrem Konur states that they are hoping to sign Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta has seemingly cast the centre-forward aside at Emirates Stadium. His only senior appearance this term came in the Carabao Cup victory over Wimbledon.

Arteta seems to favour Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as a lone striker. Nketiah is often joined by Alexandre Lacazette on the sidelines due to this.

Aston Villa and Brentford are also keeping tabs on the Englishman.
