Shock suitors emerge for Chelsea star as three-way deal mooted

Italian club Atalanta could be set to move for Tammy Abraham if Chelsea manage to seal a deal for Romelu Lukaku, according to a trusted source.

The Blues have been linked with a swoop for Inter’s Lukaku for some time. Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland appeared to be Thomas Tuchel’s number one target. But the young Norway star is likely to remain with BVB for at least another season.

Lukaku is well known to fans of the Premier League having spent four seasons with Everton and two at Manchester United. But he actually began his English career at Stamford Bridge a decade ago.

The Belgium international made just 15 appearances in all competitions, however. West Brom took him on loan for the 2012-2013 campaign and he spent a temporary spell with the Toffees the following season.

The Merseysiders made his deal permanent and ties with Chelsea were severed. There has been one constant throughout the 28-year-old’s career – he scores goals.

The powerful forward bagged 87 for Everton and 42 from 96 games with the Red Devils. His prowess in front of goal has continued at the San Siro.

The former Anderlecht ace has found the net 64 times from 95 outings in all competitions. Chelsea have reportedly had at least one bid for the 28-year-old rejected, according to The Athletic.

The west Londoners are said to have offered left-back Marcos Alonso in the deal as another way of signing Lukaku. The saga still has some way to run but it could affect another Chelsea star.

Abraham caught in transfer triangle

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano recently tweeted ‘Chelsea are preparing a new official bid’ for Lukaku. And the transfer guru has added further information on Wednesday night.

He believes that if Inter do lose Lukaku to Chelsea, they will swoop for Atalanta ace Duvan Zapata. The 30-year-old, himself linked to Chelsea in April, has scored goals for fun with La Dea.

The Colombia international has bagged 66 from 130 outings and is on the radar of a number of clubs. Romano completed his transfer tweet by stating that Atalanta will try to sign Abraham if they lose Zapata.

The 23-year-old seems surplus to requirements at the Bridge. He has been linked with Arsenal, West Ham and Aston Villa but Chelsea’s valuation seems a stumbling block.

The European champions are holding out for around £40m and that appears to be scaring off a few suitors. The Atalanta link has come out of the blue and might provide the England hitman with an exit route.
