Striker’s transfer meeting revealed as Liverpool, Chelsea interest sparks hope of record deal

French side Angers are hopeful of securing a club-record sale after Liverpool and Chelsea took note of rising striker Mohamed-Ali Cho, per reports.

Mohamed-Ali Cho, 18, is making a name for himself in Ligue 1 this season. The young striker has featured in 26 top flight matches for Angers this term and has regularly been entrusted with leading the line.

His return stands at a modest two goals. However, the fact he is generating so much game-time despite only turning 18 in January showcases how highly he is thought of in France.

What’s more, despite being 18, he already has five France caps at Under-21 level to his name.

Clearly, Cho is one for the future and it comes as no surprise to learn he’s a man in demand.

French outlet Foot Mercato recently revealed a meeting had taken place between Cho’s camp and the president of Marseille – Pablo Longoria.

Marseille are hopeful of bringing Cho on board in the summer. Though the outcome of the meeting has not been disclosed.

In any case, RMC Sport add to the initial report and reveal interest in Cho extends far beyond France.

Mohamed-Ali Cho could set new Angers benchmark

Indeed, Leicester City and German side Eintracht Frankfurt reportedly attempted to secure a late deal in the January window.

Elsewhere, Real Madrid are keeping abreast of the situation. AC Milan, RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid have also ‘taken steps’ towards forging an agreement.

But the most eye-catching line comes when it’s stated powerhouse pair Liverpool and Chelsea are in the mix.

The Reds and Blues are described as ‘keeping an eye’ on how Cho’s situation develops. Details beyond that basic statement are in short supply at present.

However, given interest in Cho is widespread among so many powerful clubs, Angers are growing hopeful of starting a bidding war.

Cho’s current contract will expire in 2023. That means this summer is the perfect time to cash in if a new deal isn’t signed.

Angers’ current record sale sits at the £22.5m they received when selling ex-Arsenal midfielder Jeff Reine-Adelaide to Lyon in 2019.

The article concludes Angers would look to set the new benchmark with Mohamed-Ali Cho.
