Target tipped to spearhead Liverpool evolution gets advice with key motive

The current coach of Karim Adeyemi has advised the in-demand forward over where he should be playing his football amid links with the likes of Liverpool.

Adeyemi is enjoying a positive start to the season with RB Salzburg in Austria. So far, he has eight goals from 10 games in the 2021-22 Austrian Bundesliga. His form has led to speculation that he could return to Bayern Munich, who used to have him at youth level.

But interest in him has been growing, with Liverpool regularly linked with him in recent weeks. Jurgen Klopp’s side are planning to evolve their attack over time; Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane will all be 30 by the end of the season.

Although all three remain strong options – and the former’s contract situation is a priority issue – they could be aided by younger alternatives who could eventually succeed them.

Adeyemi, who is 19 years old, seems to fit the profile of player they may be going after.

But a return to his native Germany will also be in his thinking. He has already made his senior debut for his country and marked it with a goal.

As well as Bayern, he reportedly has admirers at Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig. It seems his preference would be to develop further in Germany at this stage.

But his current boss at Salzburg wants him to avoid that decision in favour of staying in Austria.

“I think our kit suits him very well,” Matthias Jaissle told Kicker.

“He still has so much potential, and I hope he continues to develop with us for a while.”

Adeyemi facing future transfer decision

Jaissle’s comments come despite previous reports suggesting it is almost certain that Adeyemi will be on the move in 2022.

Ultimately, it will depend on what kind of offers Salzburg receive and where the player himself sees his future.

Liverpool may therefore have to be patient in their pursuit of Adeyemi, who could become a hot commodity if he continues his rapid rise.

Salzburg still have him under contract until 2024 and could grow his market value by keeping hold of him while he becomes more in demand.

They managed to get €20m for Erling Haaland when selling him to Dortmund in 2020. His value since moving to Germany has increased exponentially, thanks in part to the bigger stage he is performing on.

Therefore, the Austrians will be keen to get the balance right when considering the sale of Adeyemi, who could be the next talent to leave their production line for bigger and better things.
