Terms for new Paul Pogba contract revealed as Man Utd aim to avoid free transfer disaster
A report has shed light on a potential new contract for Paul Pogba at Manchester United, with the Red Devils aiming to avoid another free transfer exit.
Pogba impressed in the club’s academy before becoming a first-team member in 2011-12. He went on to make several senior appearances but left for Juventus at the end of the season.
According to BBC Sport, Manchester United received just £1.5million from the Italian giants for Pogba.
The central midfielder won plenty of trophies while in Turin, including four Serie A titles. His impressive performances for Juve saw United come back in for him in 2016 when they paid a world-record £89m fee.
The Frenchman could leave Old Trafford for free this summer, though, as his contract expires on June 30. And that would see United take a huge financial hit.
French source Foot Mercato recently claimed Pogba had become a ‘priority target’ for Paris Saint-Germain. This came after the 29-year-old held a meeting with their sporting director, Leonardo.

And Pogba is keen to go back to France, as he has not lived there since leaving Le Havre’s youth team back in 2009.
Italian outlet Calciomercato reveal United have a plan to keep the playmaker away from PSG. They want to enter contract renewal talks with Pogba and his agent over the next few weeks.
Should these discussions result in a breakthrough, then United could prevent Pogba from leaving for no transfer fee.
Calciomercato also discuss some of the terms that will be on offer. They claim Pogba could be given just a one-year extension in Manchester.
This is surprising due to United’s huge investment in the World Cup winner six years ago.
Club officials likely want to evaluate Pogba’s impact on the team next season, should Erik ten Hag become manager.
If Pogba excels under the Dutchman, then he could receive a more long-term deal. If not, then United may aim to sell for a decent sum next January.
Of course, the United hierarchy must be careful not to anger Pogba’s team-mates with the wages on offer. A recent report from the Daily Mirror said he could receive upwards of £500,000 per week, far more than the likes of David de Gea and Bruno Fernandes.
