Tottenham have eyes on former target but formidable foes an issue

Reports in the Italian media claim Tottenham are still keen on Marseille striker Arkadiusz Milik as a replacement for Harry Kane if the England man decides to leave the club this summer.

Kane’s future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is very much up in the air. The 27-year-old recently hinted that he might like to try his luck elsewhere in a bid to win some silverware. Manchester City have been mentioned and they are one of just a few clubs able to afford to England skipper.

It remains to be seen what price Spurs would put on his signature and a north London exit is by no means guaranteed. Any summer recruitment plans may be on hold until a new permanent manager is at the helm.

He will have to deal with the Kane situation but it seems as though they are already planning for his potential exit. Milik has been on the Lilywhites’ radar before.

There was talk that they would pounce in January as the Poland international was frozen out by parent club Napoli. However, he decided on an 18-month deal with the Ligue 1 club and bagged nine goals from 15 L’OM appearances.

Milik is due to feature for the Stade Velodrome outfit during 2021-2022. But a few big-name European clubs might have something to say about that.

Italians circling for Milik

Juventus are one of a number of outfits thought to be keen, according to Tuttosport (via Sport Witness). Like Spurs, the Old Lady are planning in case a big-name star leaves – in their case Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Italians also have eyes on the likes of Everton’s Moise Kean and Donyell Malen of PSV Eindhoven. But Milk remains an option.

Tuttosport report that the former Ajax star has been ‘convincing’ in France with a ‘sense of goals, technique and physicality’.

Other clubs linked to the Pole include La Liga champions Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. There are no reports of any firm bids but they are all said to be ‘keen’.

It looks set to be a busy summer for the player, with many options available. He may well remain with Marseille but the link with Spurs is strong as his agent flew to London last year for talks.

There has been no mention of any interest from Manchester United. That will be a disappointment to the forward as he is a big fan of the Red Devils and “dreams” of playing at Old Trafford.
