Tottenham to seize their chance as hopes of luring Man Utd target grow

Tottenham Hotspur have been boosted in their pursuit of Joachim Andersen following Fulham’s relegation from the Premier League.

Andersen has spent the season on loan at Craven Cottage from Lyon in Ligue 1. He was a high-profile capture for Fulham and understandably has earned some big admirers. However, he wasn’t able to help them avoid an instant relegation back to the Championship.

Hence, his future is up for question again this summer. He is still under contract with Lyon until 2024 but they could have an opportunity to cash in on him.

It was claimed last month that Lyon could sell Andersen for £25m. That fee would attract both Tottenham and Manchester United.

According to the Daily Express, Fulham would have been contenders for his permanent signature too. However, their relegation back to the second tier could scupper those plans.

Andersen’s future still seems like it could be in the Premier League, though. Lyon could welcome him back as they prepare to introduce a new head coach to replace Rudi Garcia, but they think the Denmark international may prefer to stay in England anyway.

That could come as a boost for Tottenham, who remain interested in the 24-year-old.

They have long been in contact with his entourage and now could be the ideal time to pounce. They want to strengthen their defence ahead of the summer and could sell Davinson Sanchez to make room for a new arrival.

In that event, Andersen might get the chance to remain in London.

The Express also add that Andersen retains a good relationship with Fulham boss Scott Parker. Intriguingly, he has been linked with the vacant managerial role at Tottenham.

That would only add further fuel to the rumours, although there will still be much work to do.

Real Madrid line up Tottenham raid

Meanwhile, Serge Aurier has emerged as a surprise target for Real Madrid amid doubts over his Tottenham future, according to reports.

there were rumours recently that Mauricio Pochettino could try to lure him back to Paris Saint-Germain for a reunion.

But another European giant considering Aurier, according to Foot Mercato, is Real Madrid.

Aurier is considering his future as the final year of his contract approaches. Madrid want to reinforce at right-back and his €12m price tag, which Tottenham have not changed since claims back in March, would seemingly be within reach for them.

The La Liga giants admire his ability to play either as a full-back in a back four, or a wing-back ahead of a back three. They have used both systems this season.

There have apparently been talks between Aurier and his former Lens teammate Raphael Varane to find out about life in the Spanish capital. Varane himself may be on the move this summer but can still offer his old teammate some advice.

Whether Madrid make a move for Aurier, only time will tell.
