Tottenham told there is ‘absolutely no way’ they can snap up Prem target
Brighton are “delighted” with head coach Graham Potter, according to chief executive Paul Barber, who will not allow him to leave if Tottenham come calling.
Potter is about to conclude his second season in charge of Brighton. He has got them playing some good football, even if their league position doesn’t reflect it. As such, his name has been mentioned in connection with the vacancy at Tottenham.
Ryan Mason is currently in interim charge of Spurs after the dismissal of Jose Mourinho last month. Daniel Levy will have to choose his successor carefully.
Potter is one of the potential candidates, with reports earlier this week claiming Tottenham technical performance director Steve Hitchen had put the Brighton boss’ name forward.
That move was then endorsed by former Tottenham midfielder Danny Murphy, who said on talkSPORT: “I understand [the link] because of the way Brighton play.
“Similarly we were talking off-air about when Tottenham brought in Pochettino.
“He’d only been at Southampton for five minutes before they took him. So they could go down that route again. It might surprise one or two.
“Tottenham fans generally want someone who has been there and done it before, but they’ve just gone down that road and it didn’t work.
“So I’m not surprised he [Potter] is linked with the job, but we’ll have to wait and see.”

But it appears any hopes Tottenham have of landing Potter are slim. Brighton chief Barber has all but ruled out the former Swansea City boss leaving.
“We have no desire whatsoever to lose Graham,” he told The Argus. “Graham is very happy here.
“We are delighted with the work he is doing, we are delighted with the work the staff around Graham are doing.
“As far as we are concerned there is absolutely no way we would allow Graham to leave at this time.”
If Brighton beat Wolves in their next match, they will confirm Premier League status for another season. It appears they will be able to plan for it with Potter at the helm.
Tottenham turn focus to Parker
Instead of Potter, Tottenham may opt for another manager currently impressing despite being in the bottom half.
Fulham are on the verge of relegation under ex-Spurs midfielder Scott Parker. However, the 40-year-old has conducted himself well and appears to be a target across London.
According to Football Insider, Levy is now ‘championing’ an initial move for Parker.
The Spurs chairman is putting out ‘behind-the-scenes’ feelers to see if Parker has an interest in the job.
But while the manager’s potential interest remains unclear, the report makes Levy’s interest known.
The chief “thinks the world” of the ex-Tottenham player and believes he can be a top candidate to manage his club.
Levy is an admirer of Parker’s CV, which includes Championship promotion and subsequent top-flight experience.
