Transfer saga not over despite Klopp comment as Liverpool chase winger and will ‘surely’ move

Liverpool are still plotting a move for Jadon Sancho if Mohamed Salah leaves, despite Jurgen Klopp’s comments to the contrary, one expert claims.

Sancho has become one of the hottest prospects in world football after establishing himself with Borussia Dortmund. He was a top target for Manchester United last summer but they couldn’t meet the asking price. Now, though, Dortmund have lowered those demands and he could be on the move.

His price tag may still be too high but there seems to be more interest in him now. Last summer, United were the only ones competing for his signature. This year, the likes of Liverpool could join the hunt.

There are doubts over the future of Mohamed Salah, who has been the only member of Liverpool’s famous front three to reach his usual levels this season. Under contract until 2023, he could seek a move away.

In that event, Sancho could be an ideal replacement if he wants to return to England.

Klopp said this week that Liverpool did not have the finances to compete for the 21-year-old. He also admitted that there would be damaging consequences if they miss out on the Champions League.

But one respected journalist insists that Sancho is still on Liverpool’s wish list.

“That is indeed true, Liverpool are looking at Sancho again,” Christian Falk told Bild (via Sport Witness).

“He is on the list, especially because they don’t know what will happen with Salah, who is always a bit on the move and thinking about a transfer.

“Chelsea are also very interested, as we have reported, and also Spain lures him again and again.

“If Salah were to be sold or he says he doesn’t want to be at the club anymore then there would surely be movement on Sancho with Liverpool.”

Sancho speaks out on future

Last week, Sancho cast doubt on the chances of a Premier League move by thanking Dortmund for the faith they have put in him.

He told ESPN: “Will I leave the club? I don’t know about my future…

“I am very happy here in Dortmund at the moment, I love the club, the fans and the team. They gave me my first professional start.

“The fans motivate and push me to the limit.”

His contract there runs until 2023, so they are not under immediate pressure to sell. However, they will likely still have to fend off interest.
